Are You Ready For Some Contests?
Arlington's First Handicapping Seminar/Contest of the 2013 Meet
The 2013 Arlington meet has begun and we are wasting no time in offering our first free handicapping seminar and contest of the season. Join us this Saturday, May 11, at our WAUKEGAN Trackside parlor for your chance to win a trip to Las Vegas or $1,500 in cash.
That’s right, we are taking the show on the road. If you haven’t been to our Waukegan facility, it is spacious and comfortable, with many seating options. You will want to arrive early and decide where you want to locate for the day, register for the contest and for my handicapping seminar, and perhaps have lunch. Check out the daily specials.
This handicapping contest is our most popular version which offers a first prize of a trip to Las Vegas to play in next year’s Horse Player World Series (HPWS) presented by Boyd Gaming, parent company of Coast Casinos. The HPWS will be held at Boyd’s Orleans Hotel & Casino on March 26-29. The winner of the last HPWS collected over $356,000 and prize money was paid down through the 60th finisher.
The “Vegas trip,” as contest regulars call it, consists of a paid entry into the HPWS, lodging at The Orleans, and a travel voucher. Our first-place finisher also has the option of accepting $1,500 in lieu of the Vegas trip. Runner-up prizes also are offered.
There is no entry fee for our contest. You simply exchange $100 for a plastic voucher to use for making your contest bets. The contestant with the highest official total at the end of the contest is the Vegas trip winner. You keep your balance on your contest card. Therefore, you have nothing to lose but a lot to win by playing in our contest. If you are playing the races this Saturday, you might as well play in our contest.
You can wager on any Thoroughbred race in North America, and you can make any bet or combination of bets. It’s just like a day at the races. The only minimums are that you must wager a minimum of $100, and make a minimum of one wager.
Doors open at Waukegan at 10:30 AM. Contest registration opens at 11:00 AM. The contest runs from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Any horizontal exotic wager with a first-leg post time of before 6:30, such as a pick three from California, will continue past that time.
My free handicapping review of the Arlington card will begin approximately one hour before Arlington’s first race. I will stop and start my review to “fit it in” between major simulcast races.
Be sure to sign up with me for drawings I will conduct during the afternoon.
The Waukegan Trackside OTB is easy to find. For a map and directions click here. That web page will also give you info about food and beverage including their money-saving daily specials.
Questions? Email me at email@example.com and I’ll get right back to you.
Have you read my stories of how past contest winners did it? Click here to be taken to my blog and the stories. You might find some helpful ideas there.
We want to send you to Las Vegas, but you must get in it to win it! See you at Waukegan.
