Arlington Offers “Last Chance” Handicapping Contest
One More Opportunity to Win Your Way to the HWS in Las Vegas
You still can win your way to Las Vegas for the February 21-23, 2013, Coast Casinos Horse Player World Series (HWS), thanks to Arlington Park.
On Saturday, February 2, 2013, Arlington will offer the ever-popular “Las Vegas trip” handicapping seminar/contest at their Villa Park Trackside OTB located in Tavern on North.
The handicapping contest will be much like the ones offered as part of the Holiday OTB Tour of last fall, 2012, with one notable exception: there is no cash option for the first prize. “We want this contest to 100% appeal to our fans who really want to earn a free trip to play in the HWS,” explained Brittany Habbick, Arlington’s new OTB marketing specialist.
In a related change, the prizes for second and third finishers have been raised to $500 and $250, respectively.
Other elements of last year’s contest remain the same:
* Free to enter, no entry fee.
* Beginning bankroll, established by each contestant, is $100.
* Minimum amount to be wagered over the course of the contest day is $100.
* Minimum number of wagers to be made is one.
* A free handicapping seminar, presented by this correspondent, at 11:30 AM.
The contestant simply exchanges $100 for a contest wagering card, a special plastic voucher that is used to make contest wagers. The contestant’s bankroll balance is always his.
There is a limit of two entries per contest player. The $100 (per entry) is the minimum to be wagered, but one can wager more if the contestant is winning.
The contestant must make a minimum of one wager (per entry) on any Thoroughbred race offered on Arlington’s simulcast schedule on contest day, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 6:30 PM, Chicago time. All wagers offered by contest tracks are acceptable for this contest.
Contest registration will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Chicago time, at the contest site.
The first prize of a trip to Las Vegas to play in the HWS includes a paid entry into the HWS and hotel accommodations ($1,500 value), and a $350 travel voucher. At the HWS contestants will play for a first prize estimated to be $300,000. Prize money was paid down to the 60th finisher at the 2012 HWS.
Tavern on North and Trackside OTB are easy to get to. Located at 105 East North Avenue, the facility is just a block or so west of Route 83 and close to the expressway.
