Paul Georgian Tops Net Cumulative Standings After Week Five of Arlington Park’s Fall, 2010, OTB Tour Handicapping Contest Series
Jan Nilson, Bob Albanese, Rich Zipp, Fred Speck, Sr., Round Out Top Five
It's the half-way point in Arlington's Fall, 2010, OTB Tour series of free handicapping contests and a familiar name continues at the top of the net cumulative standings. Paul Georgian jumped to the lead with a $900+ day on the second Saturday of the series and has held position since.
Arlington Park is conducting the OTB Tour for the sixth season. The Tour travels to most Arlington-owned off-track betting facilities on Saturdays. Featured each Saturday is a one-day, free-standing, handicapping contest with a generous prize structure. Also featured is a pre-race handicapping seminar focusing on the afternoon's handicapping contest races with emphasis on identifying horses and wagers with the contest in mind.
On eight of those Saturday Tour stops the top prize is a trip to Las Vegas to compete in the February, 2011, Coast Casinos Horse Players World Series (HWS). The winning package, awarded by Arlington, includes a paid entry into the HWS, a travel voucher, hotel accommodations, and prize money. The approximate value of the first place prize is $2,200. Once at the HWS, participants receive more extras from Coast Casinos and The Orleans, bringing the prize-package value to approximately $2,500. That means each contest player has the opportunity to multiply his or her $50 starting bankroll approximately 50 times over.
The top prize in the HWS is estimated to be $250,000. If you win your way to the HWS, and win first place, you have multiplied your initial $50 bankroll 5,000 times over!
Back to the Tour. Through the course of the fall series of handicapping contests, contestants also accumulate a contest account balance. At the end of the series the player with the highest cumulative total, without having won a weekly contest, wins the same first-prize package as the weekly winners win.
The net-cumulative-standings prize is popularly referred to as the consistency prize. Its purpose is to reward the contestant who plays consistently throughout the series, doing well but never winning a weekly contest.
Below are the cumulative standings as of November 13, 2010. Only accounts with a positive balance are shown. The five contestants listed without a Rank number (Rich Mandra, Tom Bolek, Fred Speck, Jr., Joseph McCarthy, and Ladislav Vorel) have won a weekly prize and therefore are not eligible for the consistency prize. Check back regularly to see the latest standings.
Your next two chances to win that coveted trip to Las Vegas will be Saturday, November 20, 2010, when you can play two entries in the contest at Trackside McHenry located in Nicolino's Italian Restaurant. If you like Italian food, I guarantee you will like Nicolino's. It's one of the few places I know of where you can order Calamari Steak and Portobello Mushroom Lasagne!
We want to send you to Las Vegas and the HWS. But you must get in it to win it! See you Saturday, November 20!! It just may be your turn!!! You could be walking around lucky and not know it!!!!
