Andreas Wohler, 50, has been training in Germany since he was 24 years old. No stranger to Arlington, he won the Arlington Million in 2001 with Silvano, a horse he campaigned extensively around the world, winning in Singapore and Hong Kong as well. Wohler was champion trainer in Germany that season.
He also trained the multiple German Group 1 winner Lomitas, the sire of Silvano, to win the Grosser Preiss Von Baden and the Europa Preis. Another of his stable stars was Paolini who won the 2004 Group 1 Dubai Duty Free, was twice a Group 1 winner in Italy, as well as dead heating for second place in the Arlington Million in 2003 behind Sulamani.
As an amateur jockey he won the German championship, before he took up training.
