Dennis Narlinger was born July 28, 1952, in Parsippany, N.J. and he resides in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. He is married to Jeanne and they have two sons Michael and Jeffrey. He was educated at Farleigh Dickinson University, N.J.
He began career in computer and electronics industry in New Jersey in the early ’80s and shortly thereafter, relocated to Southern California to work for Seimens. Struck out on his own, purchasing the brand name, Shugart Corporation, and began buying product lines from other companies, manufacturing disk drives, hard drives, circuit boards, etc. Within two years, the company grew from 10 employees to a worldwide operation with 3,000 employees, and five offices in Europe. By the mid-90s, Narlinger wanted to wind down his business interests and spend more time at the family's home in Mantoloking, N.J. He sold Shugart and is now semi-retired
He first fell in love with horse racing while working at the Knoll Golf Club in Parsippany, N.J. The teenager was an assistant golf pro at the club, and would go to the Meadowlands, Aqueduct and Roosevelt with the members and other employees. He put aside racing while going to college and pursuing his career. Now, in his semi-retirement, he has found much satisfaction in racing and breeding
He purchased his first horse 20 years ago and expanded his stable in 1995. 2007 was a breakthrough year for Narlinger as he posted his first graded stakes victory when his 2-year-old filly Rated Fiesty beat males in the Kentucky Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs.
