Giuliano Manfredi is a Milan-based retired businessman, who has had a lifelong interest in horses. He rode as an amateur in Italy and was at one stage Italian amateur champion. He used to own horses in Italy, but now has horses solely with Marco Botti in Newmarket, where he has around a dozen in training. By some way the best horse he has had to date was the Group I winning miler Excelebration, whom he sold to Tabor, Smith and Magnier at the back end of his 3-year-old career. Excelebration was an outstanding miler in his own right, unlucky to be around at the same time as the mighty Frankel whom he met and finished behind on five occasions.
