Rosie Napravnik

Napravnik, born February 9, 1988 in Morristown, New Jersey, burst on to the racing scene in 2005 when she made her first career start a winning one aboard Ringofdiamonds. In 2006, she captured all four riding titles at Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park and was runner-up as the nation’s top apprentice. She has won the Fair Grounds riding title three consecutive times (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13), each year finishing atop the rider standings by at least 31 wins.

Napravnik captured the 2011 G-2 Louisiana Derby aboard Pants on Fire who provided her with her first mount in the Kentucky Derby. She was only the sixth woman to ride in the Kentucky Derby, and her 9th-place finish aboard Pants on Fire was the best finish for a woman in the Derby until she bettered that mark aboard Mylute, 5th in the 2013 Kentucky Derby.

Napravnik won the 2012 Kentucky Oaks aboard Believe You Can, becoming the first female rider to win that Grade I event, and won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile later that year with Shanghai Bobby. She has won other notable races including the Louisville Handicap, the Champagne Stakes, the Hopeful Stakes, the Mineshaft Handicap, and the Matt Winn Stakes.
