Thomas F. Proctor
Tom Proctor (born: April 21, 1956 in Gilmer, Texas) is the son of the late trainer Willard Proctor, whotrained at Arlington during the 1960s and 1970s before relocating to California. Tom took out his trainer’s license in 1978 and scored with his first ever starter, a sprinter named I’m Smoking who wen ton to be named California’s sprinter of the year in 1980. Trained the speedy Linear, who held track records at both Arlington and Sportsman’s parks. Tom is probably best known for his work with One Dreamer, who won the 1994 Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Churchill Downs. One Dreamer also won the Arlington-Budweiser Breeders’Cup in back to back seasons (1993 and 1994). Other Arlington stakes winners trained by Proctor include Marketing Mix, Split Run and Carload.
