Starter Analysis
Dark bay’s two previous starts on grass include a maiden win and a decent second place finish in the Generous Stakes over a mile at Hollywood Park last November. Son of very promising turf sire Scat Daddy has a solid grass pedigee being out of a mare by Smart Strike and his second dam by Red Ransom and is from the barn of Doug O’Neill who wins with 14% of his starters on the surface. Three-year-old was last seen when a well beaten fourth in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth in July when making his first start since closing for fourth in the Spiral Stakes at Turfway in March and barn wins with 26% second time off a layoff. Colt has tactical speed and should be forwardly placed under Kentucky Derby winning rider Mario Gutierrez but may be a notch below the best in here.
