Anthony Mitchell

Trainer

Tony Mitchell (born March 3, 1959 in Brighton, England) is the son-in-law of former jockey Bill Boland, who as an apprentice rider won the 1950 Kentucky Derby aboard Middleground. Tony and his wife Sherri divide their time between Chicago and Aiken, South Carolina, where the horses winter. Tony trained Summer Mis, Illinois' 2003 Champion Older Female and Illinois Horse of the Year.

Francisco Torres

Jockey

Born in Mexico, Francisco moved with his family to the Chicago area when he was just two years old.  His brothers Javier and Ramiro both work in the racing industry as well.  Francisco rode with a great deal of success in the Chicago area through much of the 1980s and 1990s.  In 2000, he went to the middle east to ride under contract for Abdullah binAbdulaziz al-Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

Starter Analysis

Gelding has ran his career best when narrowly defeated in the Stars And Stripes over a mile and five furlongs here in 2010 but his form has declined since and was last seen when fourth against much easier on the main track here in July when making his second start of the year. Son of Lemon Drop Kid has a record of 11-2-2-2 on the Arlington turf course and is trained by Tony Mitchell who has won with 16% of his runners this meet but seven-year-old appears a longshot here with Francisco Torres retaining the mount.
