The Illinois Racing Board approved at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 11, a request by Arlington Park to open a Trackside off-track wagering operation inside Salerno-Pincente Ristorante to be built on the grounds of North Park Mall, 270 W. North Ave. in Villa Park with a Fall 2008 opening planned.
"We are very excited to be bringing a sports bar and restaurant with a horse racing theme to the Village of Villa Park's redevelopment of the North Avenue corridor," said Arlington Park President Roy Arnold. "We look forward to becoming a valued part of the Villa Park community."
This will be the second such joint venture between Arlington Park and Salerno-Pincente, whose restaurant in Hodgkins which opened in December 2007 also includes Trackside off-track wagering services.
The Villa Park joint venture will be housed in a single-story building of approximately 10,000 square feet which will consist of a dining room with a separate sports bar/off-track wagering area that will feature some 45 state-of-the-art television monitors and 12 next-generation wagering terminals.
