Stall Applications Overflow as '09 Meet Approaches
Arlington Park officials report that applications for stabling for nearly 3,000 horses were received by the suburban Chicago track for its 98-day season that begins on Friday, May 1 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 27. The track can currently house 2,140 horses in its 35 barns.
"Horsemen from across the country have responded positively to our racing program and I expect a full barn area for the season," said Arlington Park Vice President of Racing and Racing Secretary Kevin Greely. "With our all-weather main course and our world-class turf course, I look forward to being able to present a competitive racing program for the 2009 meet."
The stable area for the 2009 season opens Wednesday, April 15, and the main track and training track will be open for horses to train on beginning Friday, April 17.
