STATEMENT FROM ARLINGTON ON ADW LEGISLATION NOT CALLED FOR VOTE
Arlington International Racecourse officials are disappointed that Senate Bill 66 - legislation extending Advanced Deposit Wagering, which is crucial to the survival of the Illinois Horse Racing industry - was not called during the December legislative session. SB 66 would have extended the ability of state residents to wager on horse races online via Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) through Jan. 31, 2017, provide funding to the Illinois Racing Board and allow for a full racing schedule in 2014.
The current legislation allowing ADW is scheduled to sunset on Jan. 31, 2014 and the Legislature is not scheduled to meet again until Jan. 29, 2014.
“Arlington will continue to work with the legislative leaders for a bill that can be quickly passed and sent to the Governor when the Legislature reconvenes at the end of January” said Arlington International General Manager Tony Petrillo.
