Trackside OTB Fall Handicappping Contest and Promotional Schedule Announced
Two Trips to Horseplayer World Series, Other Prizes to be Awarded
Trackside OTB has planned a number of live-money handicapping contests to be held this autumn as well as a number of additional contests to challenge bettors and offer prizes.
In the fall of 2013, Trackside OTB will send two fans to the 2014 Horse Player World Series (HWS) in Las Vegas in March 2014. The first such handicapping contest is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, at Trackside Aurora with the second one slated for Saturday, Nov. 16 at Trackside Hodgkins.
Each contest closely replicates a day at the races. Contestants will fund a $100 contest wagering account and try to run up the biggest balance he or she can, just like every day at the races. The highest account balance on a contest wins a trip to Las Vegas for the designated contest. Each contest’s next two finishers win cash prizes.
The mechanics of the contest have also been simplified. The contestant signs in at the registration table at the designated Trackside OTB location on the day of the contest. There is no entry fee. The contestant exchanges $100 (or $300 each day for the NTRA contest) for a contest wagering card (limit two entries). The card is a plastic voucher that is used for contest wagers and makes it easy to keep track all contest wagering. The balance on the contest wagering card always remains the property of the contestant.
The contest wagering card can only be used at self-service terminals. Since such terminals are available throughout each Trackside facility, contest players can participate from anywhere in designated facility for that day’s contest.
Each Trackside Handicapping Contest will be preceded by a handicapping seminar conducted by Scott McMannis. The seminars, which are free just like the contests, will begin at Noon, and McMannis will remain in the area to answer questions throughout the afternoon.
In addition to the above listed contests, there will be special two-day “King of the Hill” contests on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 at Trackside Aurora and at all Trackside locations on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15. In each of these contests, only a to-be-determined percentage of players will survive Day 1 of the contest and be eligible to play the second day. Complete rules and prize structure will be available soon.
Other contests and promotions at Trackside Off-Track Betting locations this fall include the weekly Pigskins and Ponies Pick-7 Challenge with a minimum weekly prize of $1,000 available to anyone who correctly selects the winner of three designated Thoroughbred races (generally from Hawthorne Race Course) and four designated professional football games (chosen from Sunday late games and Monday night games).
Also, throughout the fall various Trackside locations will offer a “Pony Up Pool” where fans can share in a wagering pool managed by handicapper Joe Kristufek from the Daily Herald and HorsePlayerNow.com.
