Barrington Concours d'Elegance

The 2008 Barrington Concours d'Elegance, Legends & Legacies, will be held on October 5, 2008, on the world-famous turf course at Arlington Park. Arlington Park has made a special exception to showcase the Concours automobiles on the turf course, and will use the Paddock area for the Concours awards ceremony.

The Barrington Concours d'Elegance was founded and hosted in 2007 by three Barrington-area charities: Barrington Area Conservation Trust, Cowboy Dreams of Illinois, and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. Proceeds were split equally between these three organizations. Founding sponsors were Motor Werks of Barrington and Makray Memorial Golf Club; founding exhibitors were Malcolm Pray with his 1937 Delahaye 135M Cabriolet and Rick Dresang with his 1972 All-American Racers Eagle Indy.

In 2008, two of the founding charities will again organize and host the Concours: Barrington Area Conservation Trust and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. All proceeds from the 2008 event will again be split equally between these two charities.

The purpose of bringing the Concours to Barrington was to showcase not only the "Legends & Legacies" of the automotive world, but also to bring attention to the "Legends & Legacies" of the Barrington area - a wonderful community of philanthropic-minded individuals who live in one of the most unique and picturesque areas in the Midwest. Featuring rolling pastures, vast open prairies, and miles of equestrian trails, the Barrington area is renowned as a place where people care about each other and are passionate about the stewardship of their natural resources, which benefits the entire state. By bringing a Concours to Barrington, the charities hope to provide a model for a new type of fundraising for other charitable organizations.

This year's Concours will feature numerous events in and around the Barrington area from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5. Events will include a "Celebration of Speed" at the Autobahn Country Club raceway on Friday, a Barrington Road Rally & Village Day on Saturday, and the Sunday Concours, which will be held at Arlington Park.

The showfield will once again be limited to 100 of the most exclusive automobiles in the world, and also a motorcycle class which is new for 2008. On-site parking at Arlington and a vast area for Ride & Drives, Car Clubs, Sponsor Tents, and more will make the 2008 event even more spectacular than the inaugural Concours in 2007.
