JEAN ELIZABETH RETURNS TO WIN THE ISAAC MURPHY HANDICAP

July 07, 2019 |  Barn Notes

Making her first start since November, Jean Elizabeth earned her second career stakes win in the Isaac Murphy Memorial Handicap Saturday at Arlington.

Breaking from post 5 with Jose Valdivia Jr. aboard, Jean Elizabeth sat just off pace setting Brittney On Blades who went the first quarter mile in 22.30 seconds. Turning for home, Jean Elizabeth took command after a 45.58 half-mile and powered home from there.

She went the six-furlong distance in a final time of 1:10.75.

“We really would have liked to get her back to the races sooner,” said winning trainer Larry Rivelli. “But the way things worked out we couldn’t get any preps in her. She’s a good horse and we’re looking forward to this year with her.”

Jean Elizabeth is the daughter of Adios Charlie, and is owned by V-leaf Stables Llc Richard Ravin and Larry Rivelli.

She has now won seven of her twelve career races and has won five of her seven attempts over the Arlington synthetic.

Jean Elizabeth paid $3.80 to win, $2.60 to place, and $2.20 to show. Second went to Joyful Night who had a rough trip and paid $2.80 to place and $2.20 to show. Third was #3 Game Time Decision who paid $2.80 to show.
