Christophe Clement

Born in Paris, France on November 1 1965 and lives in Palm City, Florida. He is married to Valerie and they have two children, Charlotte and Miguel. He started his racing career with his father, Miguel, who was a trainer in France (his brother, Nicolas, is now a top trainer in Chantilly, France). He then worked for the Head family, in France, before going to work for Shug McGaughey in New York in 1987. He returned to Europe to work as assistant to Luca Cumani for four years before settling down as a trainer in America in 1991, beginning with just six horses. He is famous for his success with horses on the turf in New York, often with animals which were originally trained in Europe. Enjoyed a career best season in 2009 when his stable star was Arlington Million winner Gio Ponti, America's Champion Male Turf Horse and Champion Older Male who finished second to the brilliant Zenyatta in the Breeders' Cup Classic. He is the only trainer to have trained three Beverly D. winners.
