Grade I Winner Aubby K Heads Chicago Handicap
Grade I stakes winner Aubby K heads a field of 10 filly and mare sprinters entered for Saturday’s $150,000 Chicago Handicap. The Grade III race will be run at seven furlongs over Polytrack.
Aubby K, who races in the colors of James Spence, comes into the Chicago ‘Cap after scoring a 1½-length victory in the Grade I Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. The 4-year-old Street Sense filly had previously captured the Grade II Inside Information at Gulfstream Park in March. Eddie Castro picks up the mount aboard the Ralph Nicks-trained miss who will carry high weight of 123 and spot her nine rivals from five to 11 pounds.
KatieRich Stables’ Dr. Diamonds Prize invades from Presque Isle Downs where she won an allowance race on May 12 before finishing second in the $100,000 Satin N Lace Stakes there a month later. A 5-year-old Pure Prize mare, the Mark Hubley trainee is five for 21 in her career and has been assigned 118 pounds for Saturday’s headliner. DeShawn Parker has been named to ride.
Cozze Up Lady, owned by Martin Racing, Morgan Thoroughbred, Westwind Property and Farfellow Farms, has won two of her last three races including a victory when traveling 6½ furlongs over Keeneland’s Polytrack in April. Last time out, the Bret Calhoun-trained daughter of Cozzene won a mile and a sixteenth race on turf at Churchill Downs on May 27. Miguel Mena will make the trip in from Louisville to ride.
G. Watts Humphrey Jr.’s Drama Drama returns to a synthetic surface after a third-place run in the grassy $65,000 Gaily Gaily Stakes here on June 8. In her last start over Polytrack, the daughter of Lemon Drop Kid finished a good fourth in the Grade I Madison at Keeneland in April. Francisco Torres will ride the Victoria Oliver trainee.

Miller’s Maude S (Jeffrey Sanchez, 116 pounds), winner of the $60,000 Wild Rose Stakes at Prairie Meadows; Coudelaria Jessica’s Queen’s Award (Kent Desormeaux, 116), third in a Keeneland allowance in her last start; M and M Thoroughbred Partners’ Lady Chesterfield (E. T. Baird, 115), a turf allowance winner last out; Dare To Dream Stable, Little Bear Racing Stables and Ingrid Mason’s Flower Spell (James Graham, 113), winner of the $65,000 Meafara Stakes here June 1; and the Wayne Catalano-trained tandem of James F. Miller’s Gold Edge (Florent Geroux, 112) and Darrell & Evelyn Yates’ La Song (Noel Vigil, 112).
