Arlington International Racecourse is set for its opening weekend with the most unique family entertainment in its storied history.

Alongside eight Thoroughbred races on each day of opening weekend, Arlington will play host to exotic animal races throughout the course of opening weekend, highlighted by ostrich, camel and zebra races staged between live races.

The weekend will include music and great food and drink specials, all built around the Run for the Roses, The Kentucky Derby, and Arlington’s traditional celebration of Mother’s Day.

General Admission is free on opening day (Friday, May 6) and will give fans access to this special show as well as a simulcast of the running of the Grade I Kentucky Oaks from Churchill Downs.

The following day, Arlington will host Chicagoland’s largest Kentucky Derby Party and will carry simulcasts of all live races from Churchill Downs including the Grade I Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands.

On Mother’s Day Arlington will turn pink and will feature Cabs for the Cure’s large pink RV that is touring the country to raise awareness for breast cancer and the group provides medical transportation for those in need. Arlington is proud to partner in this important fundraising effort on Sunday, May 8. The RV will appear on the track between races and fans will be encouraged to make donations as the RV makes a circuit of the Arlington oval.

Mothers entering Arlington will receive free roses and will also have a chance to win a day at Adam & Eve Salon in Arlington Heights as part of an enter-to-win contest. Drink specials will be available throughout the facility, including bloody marys.
