Reznikova-Vrublevska Secures First North American Win in Arlington Finale
The last of eight races on Thursday’s card brought a little extra celebration to the winner’s circle at Arlington International Racecourse when jockey Liliia Reznikova-Vrublevska crossed the wire first in the maiden turf event aboard Glockenburg, LLC’s Broth ($11.60) for trainer Pavel Vashchenko, earning her first win in North America.
“I am just very, very happy,” said Reznikova-Vrublevska with excitement after her win.
Reznikova-Vrublevska, 32, was making her 14th start on this side of the Atlantic. A native of Kavkaz, Russia, she began riding in Poland in 2006. She has ridden over 100 winners in Poland, but made the switch to riding in the United States just this summer, debuting with a fourth-place finish on May 4. She hit the board on June 30 when finishing third in the 8th race aboard Achikulak for the same connections. Her brother Alexander Reznikov also rode in the United States over a period of six seasons, capturing 63 wins from 2012-17.
