NEW YORK (JUNE 30, 2011) – You may miss waking up each morning to Meredith Vieira bringing you the headlines, but you can still catch her unprecedented sense of humor, style and class as she gives away life-changing money each day on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”  Millionaire, with Emmy Award-winning host Meredith Vieira, will premiere its tenth season on September 5, 2011 and can be seen locally on Chicago’s Very Own WGN-TV weekdays at 4:00pm.

This summer, residents of the Chicago area will have the opportunity to audition for the hit game show as Chicago’s Very Own WGN-TV welcomes Millionaire producers to Arlington Park Racecourse (2200 West Euclid, Arlington Heights, IL 60006) for contestant auditions on Friday, July 15, 2011.

Auditions consist of a timed multiple choice test and for those people who pass, an interview with one of the show’s producers.  Two audition sessions will be held.  The first session will start at 7:00am and will run through 11:00am.  The second session will begin at 4:30pm and will end promptly at 5:30pm.  No pre-registration is required and people may line up for an audition at any time during those sessions.  The audition line will form at the Main Grandstand Gate (enter the park from the Wilke Road entrance).  Participants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the 50 United States or District of Columbia.  Go to for a complete list of rules and eligibility requirements.

Chicago, IL was one of six cities selected for auditions.  Producers will also visit Harrisburg, PA (July 11), Charlotte, NC (July 13), Washington, DC (July 25), Tampa, FL (July 27) and Las Vegas, NV (July 29).

Meredith Vieira has hosted “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” since its syndication debut in 2002.  Throughout nine seasons on the show, Vieira has handed out nearly $65-million in winnings to Millionaire contestants.  She has won two Daytime Emmys for her work on Millionaire in the category of “Outstanding Game Show Host” (2005 and 2009).  With her first win in 2005, she became the second woman ever to win in that category.  The first (and only other woman to-date) was Betty White.  Vieira has hosted over 1,500 episodes of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” which makes her the most prolific female game show host in history.

Millionaire is produced by Valleycrest Productions Ltd. and is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  Rich Sirop is the executive producer.  Meredith Vieira also serves as co-executive producer.
