STATEMENT FROM ARLINGTON & ITHA OFFICIALS

Today Arlington International Racecourse and the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association executed a contract for the 2020 and 2021 race meets. The Illinois Racing Board unanimously approved Arlington’s 2020 revised race meet plan that allows for a 30-day summer meet without spectators on July 23 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with 2 p.m. post times through September 30, 2020. Arlington is working with State and local city officials to open its backstretch on or before July 6.

The mutually agreed upon contract comes as the result of careful compromise and difficult deliberations on behalf of officials from both Arlington Park and the ITHA.   Both parties are now focused on facilitating a prosperous meet in these difficult times.
