Joe Kristufek


Joe Kristufek is a self proclaimed horse racing "ambassador", and fan education has been his passion since the moment he took his first job in the industry.

For 20 years, Joe has been a recognizable analyst on the Chicago racing scene in print and on television, serving in both capacities at Arlington and Hawthorne. He produced and hosted the popular horse racing magazine show Horsin' Around TV on Fox Sports Chicago and Comcast SportsNet Chicago, airing 85 episodes from 2003-2005.

He serves as the morning-line maker at both Arlington and Indiana Downs, and his Chicago racing selections can be found in the Daily Herald, where he has been the leading local published handicapper for eight of the last 12 years.

Along with Jeremy Plonk, he is the co-owner of, the developers of “Night School”, the horse racing’s industry’s on-line, interactive live fan education forum. In partnership with The Jockey Club and America's Best Racing, Joe is a lead educator for the Night School Tour, a on-site fan development initiative tied into racing's biggest events, including the Arlington Million.For "making a positive impact on the racing industry", Horse Player NOW received the 2013 "Special Award of Merit" from Pimlico Race Course. 

The face of the "Racing 101" segment on NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network and, Joe also appeared on the networks during the recent "Road to the Kentucky Derby" series of shows.
